One of the simplest yet sophisticated methods of harnessing the tidal activity of the oceans is the Tidal Generator Invented by Doyle W. Brewington. The design is patented. His design is unique in that it can be adapted to small beach houses or to large complete port facilities.
The system is made up of the main reservoir tank , a super magnetic flotation collar, that in turn makes an internal diaphragm go up or down in accordance with movement of the tide. This action is produces either an intake or a discharge of water through a specially designed turbine that turns in only one direction regardless of the direction the flow . The turbine then turns a generator which creates the electricity required. The Tidal Generator’s height is determined by the tidal range of the area it is to be installed; the amount of power produced is determined by the volume of the tank and the size of the turbine and generator.
Satellite Tidal Signals
The organization known as (NOAA) National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Association, sends out tidal information via satellite indicating the tide levels of minimum and maximum and some predictions.
The Tidal Generator has a signal receiver electronics package that converts the signals to Tidal Generator leveling impulses that work at a very low energy level. These impulses place the Tidal Generators, resource intake device at the minimum tidal level automatically, always working within the total tidal envelope.
Main Construction and operational information
From the viewpoint of the user, the Tidal Generator has great advantages and here are
some of them:
- Does not create any pollution.
- The energy produced comes from a renewable resource
- Can be built for any power requirement or for any reason requiring power.
- Can produce electrical energy from 100kW to 100+MW
- Easy maintenance.
- Life cycle unlimited with proper maintenance.
- Very low operating costs.
- Electrical energy costs for just a few cents...
- Licensing for developmental and marketing purposes available
- Works anywhere in the world.
The resource tank is a special acrylic tank designed to resist ultraviolet rays and SALT water environmental conditions. All of the accessory parts are likewise made of materials that will not succumb to the SALT water environment or solar degradation.
All of the magnetic material is sealed in flotation Teflon and the trelice work that supports the diaphragm is made of a special HDPE plastic. The samarium cobalt magnetic ring, is encased in flotation Teflon with its own air fill system to achieve optimum rise and fall performance.
The turbo generator system is made in part of ceramic and shaft extension of ceramic into the generator section which is sealed to keep from any contamination.
The electronic signals come via satellite straight form the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Association, (NOAA); this information is received during the day and establishes the levels high and low and possible speculative tide levels of various areas around the World. This allows the hydroajustable level of the Tidal Generator, to place the intake filter area at the exact low tide level make sure there is water available when the vacuum of the diaphragm takes in the sea water o through the turbine.
