USA:Clean Tech Open Brings Technology to California Entrepreneurs

01  May  2008

Technology and Entrepreneur Matching Event May 1, 2008 at SRI International, Menlo Park, CA

California clean tech entrepreneurs will gather with representatives of top research laboratories on May 1st to connect market-ready technologies with startup business ability. This unique "Technology and Entrepreneur Matching Event" is part of the Clean Tech Open's 2008 California business plan competition.

SRI International will host researchers from Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratories, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Palo Alto Research Center, U.C. Berkeley and Stanford University, who will discuss the latest clean technologies developed by their research. Presenters will focus on technologies ready to make the transition from the lab to commercial development. Other speakers will represent the Electric Power Research Institute, U.C. Davis InnovationAccess and Technology Ventures Corporation.

After the presentations, entrepreneurs will be able to network with researchers and licensing officers.

"Combating global warming is a huge challenge," said Luis Mejia of Stanford Office of Technology and Learning. "If the track record of Silicon Valley is any gauge of whether we can meet the challenge, then I have a great deal of optimism that together, universities, government, companies, investors and entrepreneurs will spur innovation on a scale heretofore unseen in order to solve our biggest problems of global warming and energy and water security. Stanford OTL is pleased, as a provider of technology, to participate in the Clean Tech Open to help achieve that goal."

The CTO Technology and Entrepreneurs Matching Event is May 1, 2008 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at SRI's International Building at 333 Ravenswood Ave., in Menlo Park, CA. Individuals and groups who are interested in entering the competition, but lack teammates, technology, or an idea, or just want to meet other clean tech entrepreneurs, are welcome to attend this event.

Because space is limited, entrepreneurs are urged to register in advance at the Clean Tech Open's web site at www.CleanTechOpen.com.
